Contra Table
The table „Contra“ combines various glass production processes, simultaneously challenging the traditional and often rigid concept of this piece of furniture. In Ruh’s design, the table is not a static structure or merely a surface for placing objects; instead, it becomes a modular and interactive living piece.
The classic vase form is reimagined and used innovatively. The function of the vase is both expanded and reversed in its context.
By inserting the vases, users can personalise and transform the table to suit their preferences. The glass vases can be used either as flower vases or containers, depending on individual taste.
The mould for the glassblowing process was created in collaboration with Alan Horsley from Bärenglas, and the final glass vases were completed at Glamanufaktur Harzkristall in cooperation with their team on-site.
The Contra Table is a particularly striking example of the integration of design and craftsmanship. It demonstrates how traditional manufacturing techniques (such as glassblowing) can be combined with innovative ideas to create a functional and visually captivating product.
