re:slump – from Surface to Volume

re:slump explores and advances the traditional slumping technique, in which flat glass is shaped by heating it over molds. The project aims to reinterpret this process and develop a precise, contemporary formal language. It focuses on how flat glass can be transformed into three-dimensional volumes without glassblowing or casting.

The approach is modular: individually formed elements are designed to combine into complex structures. Connections such as screws, clamps, textile elements, or plug-in systems are both functional and visually defining.

By combining digital tools like 3D printing for mold making with hands-on techniques, an experimental process emerges. Hot and cold working methods push the material’s limits. re:slump positions itself as material-based research, opening new perspectives for a constructive use of glass.
